Deworming schedule
Your farm's deworming schedule, with a due date for every animal
The Dairy Vitals deworming schedule lets a farm write its own deworming schedule once, as a short list of rules by age or by pregnancy and calving, and then works out a due date for each animal from its birth date, its expected calving and dry-off dates and the doses already recorded. Animals show as due soon, due today or overdue, and a dose can be recorded for one animal or for the whole herd in one go. The farm sets the timing with its veterinarian, and the feature is part of the Starter and Growth plans.
Part of the Starter and Growth plans, and of the 14-day Starter trial on the first farm of a new account. No credit card required.

How deworming schedule works
Step 1: Write your farm's schedule.
Open the deworming schedule and add a rule for each case in the form: by age (from an age you choose, up to another age if you wish, repeating every number of days, weeks or months) or by pregnancy and calving (a number of days before or after the expected calving date, the dry-off date or the last calving). Set the numbers with your veterinarian; Dairy Vitals does not choose them.
Step 2: Let each animal's date be worked out.
Her next date comes from her birth date, her expected calving and dry-off dates and the doses already recorded. Rules can apply to all animals, to females only or to males only, and sold and deceased animals are left out.
Step 3: See who is due.
Each animal shows as due in a number of days, due today or overdue by a number of days, on her own page and in a list of the farm's deworming dates.
Step 4: Record a dose.
Save the date, and a product and a note if you wish, for one animal, for everyone who is due, for a group or for hand-picked animals in one go. A mistake can be undone.
Step 5: Change the schedule when your plans change.
Owners and managers can edit the rules at any time, and the dates are worked out again from the doses already recorded. Workers can record doses.
What you can do
A schedule your farm writes
Each rule is a card with labelled fields: whether it goes by age or by pregnancy and calving, how often, which animals it applies to and how many days ahead to flag it. A line under each rule reads it back in plain words so you can check it.
Rules by age
Set a rule from an age, up to another age if you wish, repeating every number of days, weeks or months, for all animals, for females only or for males only. You choose whether an animal with no birth date is included.
Rules by pregnancy and calving
Tie a rule to the expected calving date, the dry-off date or the last calving, a number of days before or after. Those dates come from the fertility records already kept on each animal.
A due date for every animal
Due soon, due today or overdue, worked out from your rules and the doses recorded. There is nothing to clear by hand and nothing that can get out of step.
Doses for the whole herd
One sheet records the same date, and a product and a note if you wish, for everyone who is due, for everyone, for a group or for hand-picked animals. A dose that was recorded by mistake can be undone.
A calm start
Before you save a schedule for the first time, Dairy Vitals shows how many animals would be overdue today and lets you say when the herd was last dewormed, so the dates start from what really happened.
Examples, clearly labelled
The form can start from two labelled examples. They carry no product names and no doses, only round numbers to show how a rule is written, and you confirm that you will check the schedule with your veterinarian.
Plans and the team
Owners and managers write and change the schedule; workers can record doses. It is part of the Starter and Growth plans and of the 14-day Starter trial. A farm that returns to the Free plan keeps its schedule and its recorded doses, and they stay in the data export, but the feature is locked until the farm upgrades again.
Worth knowing. The dates come from the schedule your farm sets with its veterinarian. Dairy Vitals does not give veterinary advice and does not know which product, dose or timing is right for your animals, so check them with your veterinarian and read the product label. The two example schedules in the form only show how a rule is written; change every number to your own. The deworming schedule needs a Starter or Growth plan.
Who it is for
The deworming schedule is for farms that already follow a deworming routine set with their veterinarian and want it written down once and checked against every animal instead of remembered: smallholders with a few calves and cows, farm managers who hand out the day's jobs, and the workers who record doses in the barn. It needs a Starter or Growth plan, and it does not replace a veterinarian's advice.

Frequently asked questions
What is the deworming schedule in Dairy Vitals?
It is a short list of rules that your farm writes once, for example a dose from a certain age repeated every number of days, or a dose a number of days before the expected calving date. Dairy Vitals then works out the next date for each animal from its birth date, its calving dates and the doses you have recorded, and shows who is due soon, due today or overdue.
Does Dairy Vitals tell me which dewormer to use, or replace my veterinarian?
No. Dairy Vitals does not tell you which product or amount to use and does not replace your veterinarian. You set the schedule with your veterinarian and Dairy Vitals shows the dates that come from it. It does not know which product, dose or timing is right for your animals, so check them with your veterinarian and read the product label. A product name or amount you type in is only a note kept with the record.
Which plans include the deworming schedule?
The Starter plan and the plans above it (Growth, which is called Professional in Australia, and Enterprise), and the 14-day Starter trial that the first farm on a new account gets. It is not part of the Free plan.
Can I use different rules for calves, young stock and cows?
Yes. A rule can apply to all animals, to females only or to males only, from an age you choose and up to another age if you wish, so calves can follow one rule and adult cows another. You can also add rules tied to the expected calving date, the dry-off date or the last calving, and switch a rule off without deleting it.
Can I record a dose for the whole herd at once?
Yes. One sheet saves the same date, and a product and a note if you wish, for everyone who is due, for everyone, for a group or for hand-picked animals, and it tells you for each animal whether it was saved. Before it saves, the sheet names the day and the number of animals so a wrong choice is easy to catch.
Can my workers record doses, and can I undo a mistake?
Yes to both. Every member of the farm team can record a dose or a skip, and a worker can change or delete the records they recorded themselves, while owners and managers can change any record. After a batch the sheet offers Undo for exactly the doses it added, and a single record can be edited or deleted from the animal's page. Only owners and managers change the schedule itself.
Where will I see that an animal is due?
On the animal's own page, which shows whether she is due soon, due today or overdue, her next date and the rule it comes from; in the due list on the Deworming tab, which you can filter and download as a CSV; and in the Alerts list, where an animal that is due or overdue appears as an alert. They appear in the app while you have it open.
What happens to my schedule and records if the farm leaves a paid plan?
They are kept. A farm that goes back to the Free plan keeps its schedule and its recorded doses, nothing is deleted, and they stay in the data export. The deworming screens are locked, and no due dates or alerts are shown, until the farm upgrades again.
